When I left the Navy, I was searching for a career that I could be an entrepreneur with the required element of serving others. A friend introduced me to Financial Planning, which combined my love of all things math with working with people. She said, “You help people manage and protect their life savings, your clients become close friends and you spend your days helping them.” So, I received training and worked for Smith Barney, nearly 18 years, and in 2007, Susan and I opened our own office. My friend was right. I love what I do and the people we work with.
David S. Lopez graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1989 and became a Submarine Officer; he then qualified as a Nuclear Submarine Engineer Officer. He served for 7 years and was 3 times awarded the Navy Achievement Medal and awarded the Navy Commendation Medal. In 1996 he was honorably discharged from the Navy and he began his career as a Financial Advisor. Today David is also a veteran of the Financial Services industry. He grew up in Fullerton and met his wife Susan there. They were married in 1992, and now have two grown daughters. They moved to South Orange County in 2003. You might find them on the weekends hiking and taking pictures. They also love the movies, travel, and live theatre.
"My job is my hobby. What can I say? I was a nerd before it was cool. I like putting together the pieces of a financial plan. I find it a unique challenge every time. Of course, I enjoy my downtime, but when you work with people you like, doing something you like, it does not feel like work."
